Workshop description: https://www.sisterswellnesscollective.com/workshops/altar-workshop
There is something deeply grounding about creating with clay, shaping earth with your hands, slowing down, and allowing meaning to emerge. In this two-part altar workshop, you are invited to create a personal, one-of-a-kind piece that honors your inner world, your experiences, and the people or moments that have shaped you.
Altars have been created across cultures and time as spaces for reflection, remembrance, intention, and connection. Whether honoring yourself, a season of life, or the memory of someone you love, your altar becomes a tangible place to return to, a quiet anchor for presence, gratitude, and ritual.
Part One: Building with Intention
In our first session, we will focus on handbuilding your altar from clay. This is a time to slow down, reflect, and infuse your piece with intention, whether centered around self, life transitions, or loss. You will be guided through the process while also having space for intuitive creation.
You are welcome to bring small items to imprint into the clay that hold personal meaning, symbols of yourself or someone you love. I will also provide a selection of natural elements and tools such as flowers, lace, and stamps to help you add texture and personalize your piece.
Part Two: Glazing & Finishing
Two weeks later, once your pieces have dried and been bisque fired, we will gather again to decorate and finish your altar. This session is all about bringing your vision to life through glaze, color, and surface design. You will have time to thoughtfully paint and complete your piece in a way that feels aligned and expressive.
After the second workshop, I will take your altar to be clear glazed (if desired) and final fired. Finished pieces will be ready for pickup at Sisters Wellness Collective within two weeks.
